$40.00Are you a parent of a teen or young adult struggling with an eating disorder such as ARFID, anorexia, or bulimia? Do you feel helpless, worried, or uncertain about how to support them? Join our monthly virtual support group designed for parents like you, who are currently utilizing or interested in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) principles. This is open to any parents from any location.
Family-Based Treatment (FBT) is the leading approach for treating teens with eating disorders, emphasizing the crucial role of parents in the recovery process. Our FBT Parent Support Group offers practical and effective strategies that caregivers can use to assist their teens and to restore your confidence and empower you to help your teen on their path to recovery.
This monthly group is alternately led by Lauren Muhlheim, Psy.D., CEDS-S, and Carly Poynter, Psy.D over zoom. Each session will start with a 10-minute psychoeducation about FBT, followed by an interactive discussion. Parents will have the opportunity to respond to the presenters, ask questions, and receive feedback. Topics in this session includes managing mealtime distress, effective communication, preventing burnout and relapse, navigating school and sports, and recovery strategies. This forum also encourages parents to share their experiences, both challenges and successes.
