New for 2024: ARFID Kids Camp in Los Angeles

Join our comprehensive 8-hour program, featuring 2 hours of daily activities focused on food exploration and education tailored specifically for children with ARFID sensory-sensitivity type. Our program incorporates researched treatments for ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), including FBI-ARFID, responsive feeding, and CBT-AR techniques.

This program aims to empower kids to explore new foods, increase their awareness of their sensory superpowers, and develop confidence.

  • Explain ways their bodies are smart
  • Increase their confidence in exploring novel foods
  • Describe strategies to expand food variety

We will have some activities for the parents too!

Camp Facilitators

This is led by Dr. Lauren Muhlheim, Psy.D., CEDS-S, the author of When Your Teen Has an Eating Disorder: Practical Strategies to Help Your Teen Recover from Anorexia, Bulimia & Binge Eating, who provides specialized outpatient therapy for children, teens, and adults with ARFID. She is the practice owner at Eating Disorder Therapy LA.

She is joined by Vanessa Galeano, SLP  a full-time pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist at a top children’s hospital treating complex feeding and swallowing disorders, and also in private practice at Sips to Spoonfuls in Los Angeles.

ARFID 2024 Camp Details

Who Can Attend:

  • Children age 7-10 years old diagnosed with ARFID, sensory-sensitivity type  (limited food variety)
  • plus one parent

When:

  • Monday through Thursday, June 17-20
    • 10 am – 12 pm

Where:

  • 4929 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 1000
  • Los Angeles, CA 90010

Cost:

  • Full camp cost is $1000
  • $500 is due on registration
  • Balance is due on first day of camp
    • Includes:
      • Materials
      • Parent Education
  • Payment is expected for the entire camp and will not be prorated based on attendance.

Refund Policy

  • The fee is non-refundable.
  • There is no pro-rating for missed days.
  • For illnesses, please provide a doctor’s note.

Consistent Attendance

This is a time-limited program. You and your child are expected to attend in entirety to benefit from the varied activities. If your child gets sick, please notify us right away. We can try to offer a makeup date.

What to Wear

Our office is air-conditioned so please dress in layers. It may be cold inside when it is hot outside. Please wear comfortable clothes that can get messy.

  2. Review the ARFID Camp Consent Form
  3. Vanessa or Lauren will reach out to schedule a phone screen
  4. Once your application is accepted, register on our website and pay the deposit to hold your spot
