Psychological Externs
Eating Disorder Therapy LA is honored to be a practicum site for four local doctoral programs in clinical psychology. These schools are the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, The Chicago School for Professional Psychology in Los Angeles, California Lutheran University, and Pepperdine University's Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
Consequently, each year, through an interview process, we carefully select up to two advanced-level doctoral students. Then these students become psychological externs at EDTLA for ten to eleven months. Primarily, psychological externs provide individual and group therapy to adults and teens in California.
All of the psychological externs receive extensive training through EDTLA’s training seminars and supervision program. This allows them to provide quality therapy at lower fees than is typically found in Los Angeles.
All Psychological Externs work directly under Dr. Muhlheim (PSY15045) and other licensed psychologists. Accordingly, an experienced licensed psychologist monitors treatment decisions and progress on a weekly basis.
To schedule an appointment with our psychology externs, please fill out the expedited contact form and put "psychology extern" as "requested clinician."
